New blog/website
Aug. 1st, 2011 07:57 pmHello LJ and DW, long time no blog, etc. I'd like to say that LJ suffering another DDoS attack over the last week or so put a huge crimp in my blogging plans, but it really didn't and I cannot lie, alas. Maybe in August I can resolve to do a little better. I hope no one holds their breath for that!
My pathetic blogging habits aside, with LJ being attacked at random intervals and the fact that for some bizarre reason LJ doesn't show up in Google search results anymore, I decided that I needed to establish myself somewhere a little more stable, somewhere that people could actually find if they Googled me. Since I'd been thinking about setting up a website for a while, I decided to bite the bullet and set up a Wordpress blog with my own domain name; doing that meant that I could have a more stable blog, plus a website-type setup with static pages and what have you that people can actually find, all without needing to learn how to build and maintain a website. I imported my LJ into it, and even the comments went over, so that was great. Everybody - and by everybody I of course mean me - wins with this plan!

For the moment I'll continue to crosspost to both my LJ and DW blogs, so none of you who follow me on either of those services will likely see a difference. It tickles me to have my own domain name, I must say. Let's see if the novelty makes me blog more often.
